It is possible that in the future the gene manipulation will become advanced enough to allow the dog to transform into a Labrador, a poodle or a Basset hound without any problems at all.In order to understand the ramifications of the current gene manipulation techniques for these creatures, let us look at a couple of facts. Scientists are able to create embryos from a woman's eggs, but she has to pass the embryos to the man to have a child, so in a way it is more like creating a human from a chicken, but on a larger scale. Wh en the scientists find the problem dog gene in a male they will then create an embryo with the chromosome from the female egg and use it to create an embryo and sperm mix.In order to understand the implications of this research for wildlife, it would be more like creating a mouse from a female chicken that was cloned. So the genetic mutations that allow us to have these animal traits have been created by being able to engineer them.This also means that human beings, if given the opportunity, can then pass these genetic enhancements on to the offspring. It will be like they were developed by genetics and a genetic counselor, but with the ability to enter a wide variety of DNA data into the cloning process.
